About

This website is a tribute to the valuable contributions by the women of the western trans-Himalayan mountains towards snow leopard research and conservation of its habitat and prey.

Women, who have been negatively impacted by predation in the past, are positively impacting the narrative towards the predator. By actively participating in snow leopard research and monitoring efforts, they are generating invaluable knowledge about its behaviour, movement patterns, and seasonal habitat use—especially during winter, a time when data is hardest to collect and conflict is the highest. Their insights complement the summer data gathered by researchers, creating a more complete, year-round understanding of this elusive predator.

Along with monitoring snow leopards, women have also been part of other crucial research to monitor their habitat.
