Weather Monitoring
Weather data from remote areas like the Spiti Valley has often been extrapolated and found to be inaccurate. This initiative aims to bridge that gap on a small scale by collecting localised data through temperature sensors, manual standard rain gauges, and snow depth/water equivalent measurements in three villages. All of this data is being gathered by local residents.
The data provides a highly localised understanding of weather patterns in the valley. The initiative began in 2024, and the data is yet to be analysed for how it can be incorporated into some of the other ongoing research and further action.
